Maintenance of Air Distribution System

active, Most Current
Organization: LUL
Publication Date: 1 February 2021
Status: active
Page Count: 10
scope:

This guidance applies to the air distribution system from the sub-station pressure reducing valve up to and including flexible hoses feeding individual items of trackside equipment and all feeds to interlocking machines. It should be used by Asset Stewards when designing maintenance regimes for the air distribution system.

Note: This guidance does not apply to the compressor, nor to its associated pressure reducing valve, nor to pipework provided for non-signalling equipment. These, and the maintenance boundary demarcation, are detailed in S1105 'Power Services Contract - Performance Specification', which also specifies Compressed Air Quality and Pressure.

The primary user of this guidance is the Asset Steward.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance for the minimum maintenance requirements for the air distribution system used on London Underground (LU).

Note: It is not normally intended to define methods of maintenance, but where the guidance does so it is for particular reasons and the Asset Steward should adhere to those methods. Workshop overhaul is not covered by this guidance.

Note: This guidance supplements S1199 'Signalling and Signalling Control - Operation and Maintenance'
