scope:
This Standard specifies the automated or manual ultrasonic examination on the welds of carbon steel pipes and ferritic alloy steel pipes (hereafter referred to as steel pipes) whose internal and external surfaces are automatic arc-welded either longitudinally or spirally.
NOTE 1 The examination is normally applicable to steel pipes 350 mm or over in outside diameter and 6 mm or over in wall thickness.
NOTE 2 The examination covered is normally applied to the detection of imperfections oriented parallel to the weld line. The examination of imperfections perpendicular to the weld line can be applied by agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer.
NOTE 3 The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.
ISO 10893-11 : 2011 Non-destructive testing of steel tubes - Part 11 : Automated ultrasonic testing of the weld seam of welded steel tubes for the detection of longitudinal and/or transverse imperfections + Amendment 1 : 2020 (MOD)
In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
