scope:
This specification applies in full to all new A.C. and D.C. Electrified Lines and, in part, to existing electrified lines.
The specification does not include requirements for:
(a) signs at public road crossings on A.C. Electrified Lines. These are given in the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 1994 and are the responsibility of the Highway Authority once advice has been given by the Railtrack Zone;
(b) signs on rail vehicles, road vehicles or mobile plant.
Purpose
This specification states the requirements for the design and the display of signs on Railtrack infrastructure to warn persons on or near A.C. and/or D.C. Electrified Lines of the risk of electric shock. The specification also includes the requirements for certain other signs employed on Railtrack infrastructure in connection with electrified lines.
