Questa Norma tratta le prescrizioni costruttive, di prova e di marcatura delle costruzioni elettriche aventi modo di protezione "m" e destinate ad essere utilizzate in ambienti con presenza di atmosfera potenzialmente esplosiva.
La presente va utilizzata congiuntamente alla Norma CEI EN 60079-0 e soddisfa i requisiti essenziali della Direttiva 94/9/EC.
La presente Norma é annullata e sostituita dalla Nuova edizione, CEI EN 60079-18:2010-08 (CEI 31-77), tuttavia rimane applicabile fino al 1-10-2012.
