La presente Norma si applica ai sezionatori e ai sezionatori di terra per installazione all'interno e all'esterno, in involucro e con terminali in aria, per funzionamento a frequenza non superiore a 60 Hz in sistemi a tensione superiore a 1000 V. Si applica inoltre ai loro dispositivi di manovra e alle loro apparecchiature ausiliarie.
Per le prescrizioni comuni si rimanda alla CEI EN 60694:1997, fino alla pubblicazione della EN 62271-1
in preparazione -, che la sostituirà.
Con il Corrigendum CENELEC di marzo 2005, contenuto nella CEI 17-83 V1:2008-01, la presente Norma ha assunto un nuovo titolo.
