Purpose. This order provides criteria and guidance for constructing and operating simultaneous offset instrument approaches (SOIA) to parallel runways spaced at least 750 ft apart, and less than 3,000 ft apart at airports identified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for SOIA. This order establishes criteria for conducting closely spaced parallel operations and identifies procedural requirements to ensure safety. Implementation of SOIA procedures requires additional analysis and study.
