scope:

This Standard specifies the requirements for the packaging of robust mechanical components to Military Levels P and N (equivalent to NATO levels 4, and 3 respectively).

Only components with a minimum fragility factor of 100 g, and a Primary Packaged Quantity of up to 5 kg mass are covered.

Typical items covered by this Standard are:

(a) bolts , nuts, screw thread inserts , studs and washers;

(b) brackets, cases and covers;

(c) bushes, collars and spacers;

(d) catches, cleats, clips, fasteners and retaining rings;

(e) gears;

(f) pins, rivets , shafts and spindles;

(g) plates and decal transfers;

(h) springs;
