This drawing describes the requirements for a surface mounted, fixed, power type, wire wound and low value shunt wire resistor. Resistance values above 0.1 ohm consist of a wirewound type construction using a supportive ceramic core which requires a metal cap for the core ends. For 0.1 ohm and lower the resistance material supports itself and a capped core is not used.
