This standard provides criteria for control and development of requirements for packaging DOD materiel based on physical - chemical characteristics, fragility, dimensions and weight. This standard also supplements MIL-STD-1367 by providing packaging details, formulas, and other pertinent information for developing packaging bills of material and other logistic data by manual procedures or electronic data processing equipment.
It is intended that this standard be used in developing detailed packaging requirements and provide for their application in contracts. A decision chart is included as an aid in developing these requirements (see Figure 1).
