VDI 3679 BLATT 1

Wet separators - Fundamentals, waste gas cleaning of particle collections

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 July 2014
Status: active
Page Count: 68
ICS Code (Stationary source emissions): 13.040.40
scope:

This standard describes wet separation as a process for cleaning waste gases. Wet separators are used for the removal of solid, liquid and gaseous pollutants from gas streams. This is achieved by collecting the pollutants on a scrubbing liquid injected into the gas stream and separating them from the gas stream together with the scrubbing liquid. The removal mechanisms for the capture of particulates and gas molecules differ significantly.

Part 1 of this series of standards focuses on processes for removing particulate matter. The removal of gaseous pollutants in wet separators is covered by Part 2 of the series of standards VDI 3679. The particles entrained in the gas must be transferred to the scrubbing liquid, and then separated from the raw gas stream together with the scrubbing liquid in mist eliminators. This process is dealt with by standard VDI 3679 Part 3, which also covers the removal of liquid pollutants.

Section 9 to Section 13 of this standard also apply to subsequent parts of this standard series. Instrumentation and measurement equipment for mist eliminators is listed separately in Part 3.

Reference is made to applicable acts and regulations.
