scope:
This standard applies to all works being undertaken by London Underground and / or their contractors or suppliers. It also applies to works being undertaken by Outside Parties (an entity as defined in LU standard S1023 "Infrastructure Protection") on London Underground property.
The requirements of this standard apply to all hoardings and other barriers and also to the associated footings, temporary supports or other falsework specifically provided to support or restrain the hoarding or barrier. These shall be considered as a single system.
Hoardings, fences or other barriers may also be used to temporarily segregate areas that are not specifically work sites, but for which access is restricted or environmental protection is required and this standard also applies to these barriers.
This standard does not apply to permanent barriers covered by LU standards S1051, S1053 or S1057; advertising hoardings; permanently provided temporary barriers at stations for crowd control (such as Tensar Barriers) covered by LU standard 1-361; permanent operational fencing covered by LU standard S1167 or permanent premises fencing covered by LU standard S1132
Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to set out the requirements for hoardings, fences or other barriers around work sites or other areas that need to be temporarily segregated
